Douglas Rose Spirea (Western Steeple Bush) - 1 Gallon Pot
A very pretty and easy-to-grow North American native perennial flowering shrub that prefers life on the wet side, the Douglas Spirea is a great choice to fill those low-lying areas in the landscape or garden where the soil tends to stay moist to wet. In its native habitat, it is often found growing in moist soils of sunny to partially shaded marshes, swamps, bogs, damp meadows and along streams. A clump forming plant growing 3 to 6 feet tall and spreading slowly by underground stolons up to 6 feet wide, from early summer through late summer it produces showy, 8-inch tall, "steeple shaped" flower clusters at the tips of its stems, hence one of its common names of Steeplebush. These fluffy spikes are packed with long-lasting pink to pinkish purple fuzzy looking flowers the butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators will appreciate, and are also excellent for cutting and display in floral arrangements. The flower spikes form atop upright, slender, stems clothed in attractive blue-green to green leaves with silvery-white undersides that turn to shades of yellow and peach in the fall. An excellent asset for moist garden beds, marshes, bogs and swampy areas of the landscape. Get all the details below
